Arrow appoints new chief executive

Godson will succeed Cecile Wake, who takes on the role of Country Chair of Shell in Australia and Senior Vice President Integrated Gas Australia.

Arrow is jointly owned by Shell and CNPC of China.

The moves are part of a global round of changes to Shell’s senior executive ranks, announced here.

Godson joined Shell in 2002 and has held various leadership roles including CEO and Country Chair of Shell Gabon and Executive Vice President Production Support and Excellence, before taking up his most recent post as Shell Senior Vice President of East (Australia) in 2020.

“It’s an exciting time to join Arrow with the company’s flagship Surat Gas Project in south-west Queensland not only under construction but progressing well,” Godson said. “The Surat Gas Project is already helping Australia’s transition to a cleaner energy system as it unlocks new supplies of much-needed natural gas.

“I’m looking forward to helping Arrow build on the great platform Cecile and her team have set,” he said.

Under Cecile’s leadership, Arrow sanctioned the multi-billion-dollar Surat Gas Project, the first phase of which is now one-third complete. Before joining Arrow in 2020, Cecile spent four years as Shell Australia’s Vice President Commercial and New Business Development.

“It is incredibly hard to leave Arrow and its wonderful people, especially given the strides we’re making in the Surat Basin and the company’s enormous potential to do even more,” Cecile said.  “At the same time though, I’m thrilled at the prospect of leading Shell in Australia through a period of great challenge and opportunity for our industry.”
