A large stretch of Daandine-Nandi Road has been upgraded as part of a major package of road improvements, worth about $70 million, Arrow Energy is undertaking to support the roll-out of its Surat Gas Project.
Arrow’s Surat Operations Manager Mac Gordon said the Daandine-Nandi Road upgrades started in 2021 and were expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
“Daandine-Nandi Road is about 15kms west of Dalby and is a key thoroughfare and access road for local farmers and the community,” Mr Gordon said.
“As part of the works, we’ve widened several sections of the road and sealed almost 8kms of previously unsealed sections. We’ve also increased the number of driveways and access points for landholders and upgraded the drainage.
“These improvements will deliver a safer and smoother road and driving experience for the local community, especially growers and farmers in the area, allowing them to move their large farming equipment and vehicles more easily and safely between properties.
“Thank you to everyone involved in the project – from our contractors, FKG Group, to government stakeholders and local landholders who engaged with us in the consultation, development and construction phases.
“It’s been a huge effort to overcome the weather challenges of the past 12 months and bring this critical piece of road infrastructure to completion.”
Mr Gordon said the upgrades followed improvements made to the Dalby-Kogan Road and Daandine-Nandi Road intersection last year, with a number of other road upgrades also underway – all with the aim of improving access and safety for local road users.
Other works underway in the region include upgrades to the Grassdale Road and Abernethy Road intersection, improvements to the Springvale Road and Grassdale Road intersection and minor upgrades to Abernethy Road, all due for completion later this year. Also coming up are the intersection off Dalby-Kogan Road and Banana Bridge Road and Daandine-Nandi Road and Greenbank Access.
