The partnership will provide funding for the long-awaited upgrade of the race club’s viewing area to a modern, multi-purpose events space – the first stage of its Racecourse Road grounds redevelopment.
Arrow Energy’s Community Principal Rita Hassan said the partnership reflected Arrow’s commitment to supporting the Miles community.
“As Arrow’s natural gas project in the Miles region ramps up, we are committed to contributing to projects that are meaningful to the community and will leave a long-term, positive impact,” Ms Hassan said.
“The local community has told us the race club redevelopment is an important project for Miles, both socially and economically, so we’re delighted to help the new events space become a reality.
“This partnership brings Arrow’s community and social investment in the local region to more than $200,000 since we commenced work on our Miles development in late 2024.”
Chloe Kerwick from the Miles & District Amateur Picnic Race Club said the new events space, which will include shading, concrete flooring, lighting and fans, was a long-planned upgrade from the existing viewing area.
“A multi-purpose, all-weather events space has been on our wish list for some time, and Arrow’s support has allowed us to finally get it off the ground,” Ms Kerwick said.
“The roofed, open-air design is fit-for-purpose for our club, climate and community, and will make a huge difference for race days and other community events throughout the year.”
Funded by Arrow Energy and the race club’s savings, construction of the new events space started in February and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
The partnership is part of Arrow Energy’s community and social investment program which contributes more than $1.5 million annually to organisations in areas where Arrow operates to help promote improved community outcomes.
