A Toowoomba foster family is getting a much-needed break before Christmas thanks to a partnership between Arrow Energy and The Pyjama Foundation.
The Pyjama Foundation works with 1000 children in foster care each week to deliver a literacy and numeracy program that can change their lives.
After reading more than 67,000 books to foster children in the past year, the foundation is holding a camp on the Gold Coast for the first time to give these children the opportunity to take part in activities ranging from canoeing to circus workshops.
Their foster carers are attending the same camp, but are participating in indulgent activities including massages and beach walks while the children are cared for and a chef prepares all their meals.
Arrow is a primary partner of The Pyjama Foundation camp, held from 16-20 December, and in addition is the only company sponsoring an entire family to attend.
Arrow Community Relations Manager Glenda Viner said Arrow was pleased to sponsor the camp and give a foster family from its operational footprint a well-deserved holiday.
“These children need the support of the community and The Pyjama Foundation camp is invaluable as it gives them the opportunity to gain positive life experiences,” Ms Viner said.
“It is equally as important for their carers to be able to rest and rejuvenate.
“Arrow is proud to partner with The Pyjama Foundation to give an entire family the getaway it deserves.”
The Pyjama Foundation founder and Executive Director Bronwyn Sheehan said Arrow’s support was welcome.
“Arrow Energy’s commitment is more than just as a partner; its funding is enabling a whole family, including the foster parents, to attend the camp,” Ms Sheehan said.
“This family is over the moon that they have been given this opportunity, and we cannot thank Arrow enough.”
Thirty-eight children and their carers are attending the camp on the Gold Coast this week.
