Brisbane Broncos players are coming to Dalby tomorrow with a message about education and careers.
Under its partnership with Arrow Energy, the team is sending players to deliver “Be A Champion” sessions.
“Be A Champion is about using champion rugby league stars to deliver the right messages about education, lifestyle and careers to young minds,” Arrow Community Relations Manager Glenda Viner said.
“As sporting role models, their words carry a great weight with children and young adults.
“The fundamental theme is that each student can be a champion in life if they make the right choices and put in the necessary effort.
“This is the second Be A Champion visit to Dalby under the Arrow partnership this year and I expect it will be as well-received as it was in May.”
Tomorrow’s sessions will be held at:
- Our Lady of the Southern Cross, 9-11am, where the players will be speaking to selected Year 10 students on topics like preparing for senior school and the importance of developing career options.
- Dalby South State School, 12.30-2.30pm, where they will speak with upper primary school students from years five, six and seven about healthy eating and active lifestyles.
“These sessions are structured to allow the students the maximum interaction with the players to improve the students’ take-up of messages,” Ms Viner said.
“The discussions are always free-flowing and everyone gets to participate with NRL players whom they’ve probably only ever seen on the television.”
The Broncos contingent consists of players Alex Glenn and Lachlan Maranta, as well as support staff like former player Michael Hancock.
Arrow’s partnership with the Broncos is made under its Brighter Futures community investment program, which exists to enhance the quality of life in the communities in which Arrow operates.
