Arrow targeting Dalby Tri glory

21 March 2014

Title rights sponsor Arrow Energy is planning a multi-team assault on the business house category of Sunday’s Dalby Triathlon.

Arrow Energy CEO Andrew Faulkner said the March 23 event was one of the company’s great sporting challenges for the year.

“I had a ball in last year’s event and, while I can’t make it this year, there are some pretty keen competitors who will be flying the Arrow flag this time around,” Mr Faulkner said.

“Our ‘Awesome Arrow’ mixed team took 11th in last year’s Business House Challenge and we’re aiming to do better this year – but so is everybody.

“Expect to see several Arrow teams as well as some individual Arrow entrants.”

The Arrow Energy Dalby Triathlon will use the Dalby Aquatic Centre for the swim leg, and a course of closed streets for the run and cycle legs.

There will be categories for children, business houses, teams, men and women, each broken into age and capability categories. There is also an ‘enticer’ category for people wanting to sample a triathlon over a much shorter course.

“The objective is to engage the local community and provide an opportunity for individuals and families to involve themselves in a fun community sporting event,” Dalby Tri Sports President Wes Keep said.

“Given many people in the region have relocated here for work, it enables them to interact on a social level, boosting the local community spirit.

“It promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The involvement of local businesses further assists with the promotion of lifestyles and community morale.”

Arrow is backing the event through its Brighter Futures community investment fund which, last year, provided more than $4.6 million to 117 projects across Queensland.

Brighter Futures is focused on helping communities to develop their capacity in health and safety, education and the environment.

Arrow Energy Dalby Triathlon category races will start from 5.45am at the Dalby Aquatic Centre, on Sunday 23 March.
