Arrow signs new deal to bring Broncos to regions

17 December 2014

Communities in the Surat and Bowen basins will benefit from a new partnership between Arrow Energy and the Brisbane Broncos, launched today.

The deal will see the Broncos visiting both Dalby and Moranbah to promote the value of education to school students, as well as interacting with football fans.

“The Broncos and Arrow both understand the impact that strong role models can have on children in their formative years,” Arrow CEO Andrew Faulkner said.

“The Broncos players are sporting heroes and what they say carries great weight, especially when they’re delivering it face to face in a school classroom.

“By conveying messages about the value of education, reading and teamwork, the Broncos have a very positive effect on young children’s attitudes to schooling.

“We’ve found this has worked well in schools in the Surat during the past three years and, for this reason, I am delighted our new partnership will extend the Broncos’ messages to children in the Bowen Basin.”

Arrow has been the official energy partner of the Brisbane Broncos since 2012 and today’s announcement continues the arrangement.

Under the new partnership:

  • The Broncos will visit Moranbah for a two-day blitz. Activities include a training session which will be open to the whole community; fan activities; and educational school visits to Moranbah State School, Moranbah East State School and Moranbah State High School.
  • The Broncos will come to Dalby for the now traditional Arrow Energy Broncos Dalby Fan Day. The Broncos Surat Junior Challenge will also continue, giving four junior teams from the Surat Basin the chance to play at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium at of one of the Broncos’ regular season home games, plus tickets for the junior players’ families.
  • There will be other, supporting activities, such as Skype chats with school students or contact time with students visiting Brisbane.

“Arrow has always approached its premier sponsorship of the Brisbane Broncos with an eye to benefitting communities in our regional operational areas,” Mr Faulkner said.

“Our philosophy is that we should use our presence to benefit regional Queensland, both economically and socially, because we understand that our long-term success is closely linked to the social wellbeing of the communities where we work.

“Last year, we invested more than $4.6 million from our Brighter Futures program in supporting community-based projects in health, safety, environmental awareness and education.

“Our Broncos partnership is part of that.”
