Arrow helps Gladstone kindy fundraising

07 May 2014

Arrow Energy is helping Kookaburra Creek Kindergarten’s fundraising to make the Gladstone kindy more environmentally sustainable.

With Arrow’s sponsorship, the kindy will hold a tea party on Saturday, 21 June as this year’s major fundraiser.

“We would like to raise enough money to upgrade our solar power and water storage,” event organiser Pattie Maughan said.

“This will reduce our electricity costs in the longer term, and enable us to sustainably manage our water usage so that we can continue to enhance our natural outdoor environment for the benefit of our children for years to come.”

Kookaburra Creek Kindergarten is a non-profit, non-government, community kindergarten for children aged between three and five.

Ms Maughan said the 2014 tea party would be elegant and themed around a winter wonderland with lots of silvers, light blues and whites.

“It’s the winter solstice, so there’s the obvious theme — shortest day, biggest party.”

The event will be held at Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre between 1.30pm-6.00pm on 21 June. Tickets go on sale on Monday [12 May].

Last year, the kindy held a high tea at Gladstone PCYC and raised $26,500.

“We had women of all ages, from late teens to sixty and seventy-year old ladies,” 2013 event organiser Vicki Tobin-Platten said.

“A lot of women went for the social side of it but they took their purses too because they knew we were selling raffle tickets.”

Arrow is backing the Kookaburra Creek Kindergarten Tea Party through its Brighter Futures community investment program and is platinum sponsor this year.
