Arrow gears up for Dalby Tri

18 April 2018

Dalby is gearing up for the Arrow Energy Dalby Triathlon, with less than a month before the annual sporting event.

Arrow Energy General Manager Surat Operations Darren Holmes said the Dalby Tri was a highly anticipated day for Arrow staff.

“Arrow has several teams in the Business House Challenge and some of our keen staff will be competing in the individual events,” Mr Holmes said.

“Training is well and truly underway and the friendly competition has begun – everybody wants to improve on last year’s efforts.

“It’s fantastic that an event of this size and scale can be held locally and I encourage other businesses to step up to the challenge and enter a team or two.”

The Arrow Energy Dalby Triathlon will use the Dalby Aquatic Centre for the swim leg, and a course of closed streets for the run and cycle legs.

There are categories for children, business houses, teams, men and women, each broken into age and capability categories. There is also an ‘enticer’ category with reduced distances for people that are new to triathlons.

“The great thing about the Arrow Energy Dalby triathlon is that it’s all inclusive – kids, beginners and elite athletes all have the opportunity to take part,” Dalby Tri Sports spokesman Paul Renner said.

“There’s a strong sense of community spirit on the day and in the lead up to the event.

“The supporters also enjoy the excitement so, even if you’re not competing, come along and cheer from the sidelines.”

Arrow is supporting the event through its Brighter Futures community investment fund which has invested more than $12 million in community projects across Queensland since 2011.

The Arrow Energy Dalby Triathlon starts from the Dalby Aquatic Centre, on Sunday, March 22, from 5:45am.
