Arrow backs celebration that brings Moranbah together

01 October 2019

The sponsorship will help defray the cost of running the popular regional event, which is expected to attract families from as far as Dysart, Glenden, Clermont and Nebo.

Fundraising Committee Member Brianna Baggow said the event had been run for 20 consecutive years and continued to evolve and grow as an exciting family event.

“Moranbah Community Carols by Candlelight creates a safe and diverse environment where members of the local community and their families can come to enjoy a night of social interaction, entertainment and activities that promote unity of everyone regardless of gender, race, or socioeconomic status,” Mrs Baggow said.

“It brings a social unity between churches, community groups, local business, musicians, volunteers and arts groups to present to the Moranbah Community an exciting night of carols and Christmas entertainment.

“Carols by Candlelight caters to all of Moranbah’s diverse community with activities that include Christmas-themed performances, carolling, a wide variety of local food vendors, beverage choices, children’s petting zoo, jumping castle, face painting, kids craft, Santa and a fireworks display.”

Leisa Elder, Arrow’s Vice President External Relations and Tenure Management, said Arrow’s staff would be among the people joining the end-of-year celebration.

“Our local workers love the social side of Moranbah and appreciate its family-friendly events,” Ms Elder said.

“I am pleased that Arrow has been able to support such a socially-cohesive celebration as Carols by Candlelight.”

Aside from contributing to the night’s staging and performances, Arrow’s sponsorship will cover the cost of a fire warden and ambulance service.

Arrow’s support has come from its Brighter Futures community investment program,
which assists local organisations with health and safety, education and environmental
activities.

Other groups to receive Brighter Futures funding in this round are:

  • Moranbah State High School, for the Junior Dux Award which recognises the Year 9 student who has excelled in their junior secondary studies.
  • Moranbah and District Support Services, to provide in-service training to 20 people who work with children and families in Isaac Region. The training is to increase their knowledge and practical skills, as well as support their compliance with the latest regulations and laws.

Arrow’s Brighter Futures has contributed more than $32 million to community projects across Queensland since 2011.
