Maths students at Tannum Sands State High School have gone electronic with new teaching software.
The School has purchased “Boardworks”for years seven to 10, thanks to a community investment grant from Arrow Energy.
“Boardworks is an interactive maths program that brings complex mathematical ideas to life,” Community Liaison Officer and P&C Vice President Carol Shuttleworth said.
Maths Head of Department Fash Paymon said the software was helping students to get hands on with maths.
“The vibrant colours and visual effects really encourage interaction with the program,” Mr Paymon said.
“Maths certainly isn’t boring at Tannum High!”
The software runs on students’ laptops and the school’s interactive whiteboards, allowing teachers and students to work together on problems and display results to the whole class.
It includes activities, games and animations, mapped to the national curriculum.
Arrow’s funding comes from the company’s Brighter Futures community investment fund, which focuses on building community capacity in education, health, safety and the environment.
Last year, Arrow invested more than $4.6 million in 117 community projects around Queensland.
