Bowen Gas Project EIS

The Bowen Gas Project EIS covers Arrow's planned coal seam gas expansion in central Queensland's Bowen Basin. It is expected to provide gas for both the domestic and export markets.

The proposed Bowen Gas Project covers an area west of Mackay, extending from Glenden in the north to Blackwater in the south. The Bowen Basin contains one of Australia's largest (in terms of area) and oldest CSG-producing fields.

The Bowen Gas Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) covers Arrow's proposed staged development over about 40 years and was submitted to the State and Federal Governments in December 2012. The EIS is a comprehensive study of all environmental, economic, social impacts and benefits arising from the Bowen Gas Project, and is conducted in accordance with the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004 (Qld), Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld), and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Commonwealth). It was developed with extensive consultation with community, government and industry stakeholders.

Arrow submitted a Supplementary Report to the EIS (SREIS) to Government on 13 June 2014, which addressed EIS submissions and provided updates on the project with further information from additional studies. The SREIS is now available below.

The project received State Government approval on 8 September 2014. Federal approval was received on 28 October 2014.
