Health, Safety & Environment

Arrow employees are continually striving for zero harm in the workplace.

Across all its operations, Arrow believes nothing less than zero harm is acceptable. In 2011 more than a third of Arrow employees will carry out no less than 110 Advanced Safety Audits (ASA) every month as part of their individual performance targets this year.

Target Zero, the world class occupational health and safety management system being deployed by our company, is supporting the dedicated efforts of our team to achieve zero injuries. It exceeds the OHS best practice requirements as detailed in Australian Standard (AS/NZS) 4801 and International Standard OHSAS 18001. The system focuses on accountability, visible leadership and integration of safety into all business practices, as well as specific action items to drive changes and sustain gains. The system supports our company in Australia and abroad.

Target Zero involves 11 main activities bound by a commitment to continuous improvement:

  1. Leadership & Commitment
  2. Risk Management
  3. Change Management
  4. People
  5. Incident & Emergency Management
  6. Asset Management
  7. Information Management
  8. Customers, Contractors & Suppliers
  9. Communication & Consultation
  10. Performance Monitoring, Measurement & Reporting
  11. Systems Review
Our safety performance begins with the Leadership Team and extends to all levels of the company to help our people recognise and respond to risks and actively seek out opportunities to improve our safety culture. This drives improvements in equipment, processes, work methods, and individual and group performance. Target Zero is continually reviewed by senior management to ensure the continued suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of our safety systems.
