Michelle Zaunbrecher
Michelle Zaunbrecher
Vice President Health, Safety and Environment
She commenced her career in an operational role with BHP. With a passion for exploring HSE, she was transferred to the corporate team, where she was integral in establishing the corporate HSE standards for the Petroleum, Minerals, Steel, Transport and Power business units, integrated management systems to collect organisational data and gained 'buy-in' from various business units.
Michelle then took a position as a HSE Lead for a pipeline project in Russia. She was able to successfully manage the design of systems, approvals and co-ordinate a team to support the construction of the project.
Upon her return to Australia, Michelle accepted a position as HSEC Manager with Nexus Energy. Over five years she developed and implemented the HSE program and undertook contractor management initiatives. Her strategy included highlighting corporate exposure to the executive team, gaining buy-in for a safety stand down on the off shore contract rig, safety talks and the successful negotiation of a training induction course refresher for contractors.
Michelle is originally from Queensland and is interested in continuing her career in HSE and believes that this role allows her to utilise her skills and experience with family support around her.
