Rescue Helicopters.
One company goes deep underground, the others high into the sky but Arrow Energy and rescue helicopter services have come together to save the lives of people in remote locations. Arrow is proud to support CQ Rescue and Careflight Southwest which provide emergency care services to Moranbah and Dalby respectively.
The essential purpose of rescue helicopters is to reduce loss of life, to reduce the likelihood of permanent neurological or physical impairment as an outcome of acute illness or severe trauma, and to reduce the number of days which emergency patients need to spend in hospital.
CQ Rescue
CQ Rescue was established in 1994 when a group of people decided there was a need for a Mackay based helicopter rescue service. The first mission flown by the crew of CQ Rescue was to Hayman Island on 1st September 1996. Since this time, the CQ Rescue team has flown well over 3,000 missions. Three air crewmen, two rescue crewmen and three pilots are on-call 24 hours a day to attend to tasks usually within a 300km radius from Mackay. This area extends north to Bowen and south to St Lawrence and includes the mining towns in the Bowen Basin and Whitsunday Islands. A doctor and intensive care paramedic are also assigned to CQ Rescue and generally make up a crew of five on each mission.
CareFlight Rescue
CareFlight Rescue (CFR) is a division of the CareFlight Group, Australia’s largest air-medical retrieval operation, carrying out more than 3000 domestic and international rescues each year. CFR is a not-for-profit and charitable organisation which operates the group's rescue helicopters. With a response time of as little as six minutes, its dedicated pilots and aircrew operate a fleet of helicopters including a Bell 412, Bell 230 and AS350BA Squirrel. With a critical care doctor and QAS paramedic on board for every mission, CFR is CareFlight's core business. Incredibly this service is provided to the communities of south east Queensland and northern NSW 24/7, at no cost to patients.
