Arrow Energy is one of Australia’s top 100 publicly-listed companies and has a current market capitalisation of more than AUS$3 billion. As Australia’s largest coal seam gas acreage holder, the company is now driving growth by investing in downstream projects and international markets to secure higher margin sales beyond wholesale gas sales for power generation.
Arrow has access to around 65,000 km2 of coal seam gas exploration tenements close to Queensland’s three key markets – Townsville, Gladstone, and Brisbane. Our five producing projects currently account for more than 20 percent of Queensland’s overall gas consumption. We plan to expand our existing projects while advancing a number of highly prospective blocks over time ahead of a planned LNG export development due for completion in Gladstone in 2012.
The company has the rights to dispatch power from the Yabulu Power Station in Townsvillle and the Daandine Power Station near Dalby. In July 2009, Arrow and its partner ERM Power switched on the 450MW Braemar 2 Power Station in which Arrow has a 74.9% stake. Arrow’s net generation capacity is now 488MW.
Arrow’s gas infrastructure assets include the Moranbah Gas Processing Facility, and the rights to develop the 440km Central Queensland Gas Pipeline (CQGP) between Moranbah and Gladstone. The company is currently planning the development of the 450km Surat Gladstone Pipeline to facilitate the supply of gas from our Surat Basin projects to a planned LNG export facility in Gladstone.
The company’s alliance with Royal Dutch Shell will facilitate the connection of our vast domestic gas resources with a high value international marketplace as well as support our growing business presence in the key Asian growth markets of China, India, Indonesia and Vietnam. Increasing energy consumption and high gas prices combine to present the international marketplace as a significant growth opportunity for our company.
