Project Assessment (EIS)

Arrow must gain approval from the Queensland and Commonwealth Governments before our major projects can proceed.

The approvals process ensures our activities have been properly assessed and appropriate measures are in place to avoid or minimise environmental, social and economic impacts. An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is generally considered the most appropriate method to assess a project and:

  • Identifies potential adverse and beneficial impacts of the projects
  • Ensures Arrow protects environmental, social and economic values that may be affected by the projects
  • Identifies environmental management measures
  • Ensures community and stakeholder views are heard

During the EIS process various community members and groups will be contacted regarding issues such as the project's social and economic impacts on communities and businesses; flora and fauna; river and stream health; surface water and groundwater management; transport, traffic and road conditions; and historic places or items that hold heritage significance.

Further, Arrow will undertake a number of studies on private property - such as taking water samples, setting up noise monitors for a period of time, soil sampling, and recording flora and fauna - to meet the technical component of the EIS. Arrow will discuss access with landholders before these studies occur.
